The restaurant is noted for a clean, comfortable dining environment with efficient service and attention to customer needs. Went on a weekday evening, seats available and dining area was clean, well ventilated. Not too warm. We picked our seafood of choice and they cooked it to our liking. All the seafood at hand were fresh and clean. Spent RM84 for 2 pax on the following; Battered and fried squid (Sotong Goreng Celup Tepung) had a light batter, fresh as fresh could be and not oily. The meat had a good bite, was not rubbery nor tough and we could taste the sweetness of fresh seafood. Grilled stingray with spicy gravy (Ikan Pari Bakar Berlada) was well cooked, no fishy smell or taste. The gravy was slightly sweet and heaty, with a slight note of the aromatics (ginger, garlic, etc.) in the background. I would have preferred the gravy to be more savoury and spicy, but still enjoyed the dish thoroughly. Boiled Cockles (Kerang Rebus) had a mix of small and large cockles, served with a sweet soy sauce and chili dip. Not overcooked till rubbery, each cockle was juicy and had a good bite (slightly crunchy). Fresh and delicious. Stir-fried Kai Lan (Kailan Biasa) vegetable was fresh and crunchy, but too salty for our liking. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, we were impressed by their warm smiles and follow-up service. Checking in on our meal, thanking us for our patronage and being attentive to every diner. We received such genuine service! My only regret was coming with a stomach not 100% empty and ordering so little squid. On the other hand, it’s a perfect excuse to go again!
This place is a hidden gem that my dad got to know through a van driver. A must have is their 3 rasa fish along with their ikan Bakar sambal, that is made with the owners’ secret recipe. Accompanying with the seafood dishes are small packets of Nasi Lemak which are claimed to be homemade by the owners. Though they were simple with barely 3 - 4 pieces of ikan bilis in a packet, they were actually packed with some good taste of the sambal. As regular visitors of Malacca, we used to regularly visit a famous Ikan Bakar establishment elsewhere, which was highly recommended by various food bloggers and guidebooks. However, I now personally feel that this family run place supersedes. This stall is located within a complex of various seafood restaurants (Medan Ikan Bakar Umbai - Pernu), where this is stall no. 3.
# 1 of the recommended store to dine when you are at Pernu/Umbai grilled fish cluster of fresh seafood restaurants. Food at this store is cooked to perfection by some really good chefs and always to tasted fresh and delicious. The owner Adi, is also a very honest and service oriented person who always take care of his customer's needs. I personally would like to recommend the fried Sekup fish which is so delicious and not easily available in any seafood restaurant. Highly recommended restaurant to dine with friends and family.
So many choices of fresh seafood to be grilled or fried, etc and served hot..so delicious..
Ordered bbq stingray, siakap tiga rasa, sotong tepung, black pepper crab, seafd soup...fish n crab was fresh but the squid was a bit chewy. Food was tasty. Service was quick n didnt take long to have the food ready. Meal cost RM170 for 5 of us. Overall we were satisfied.
Food is good! The deep fried squid was one of my favourite. the price is reasonable and fair for the quality of the food.
Food was good. Sercive was efficient. Price is reasonable. Recommended to try if you are in the area. Seafood was fresh too exept the lala. Salted egg squid was cooked with actual salted egg, not the powder. We ordered siakap and requested they prepared 2 dishes, half asam pedas and another half 3 rasa.
